Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the Clinical Nurse Manager of the operating room directs and coordinates the daily operations of the operating room 7-days a week. The Clinical Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality care in the departments. The Clinical Manager will demonstrate organizational, interpersonal skills, and time management. The Clinical Manager will demonstrate proficient performance standards in performing their daily work duties to meet the department expectations. The nurse works effectively and productively with shared responsibilities. The Clinical Manager will demonstrate proficient performance standards in performing their daily work duties to meet the department expectations. He/She will oversee the development and implementation of systems for evaluation of clinical competency of the nursing staff, help to develop and update standards and policies, consulting the nursing staff for complex issues. He/She will provide pertinent continuing education for existing staff, mentoring of new staff and performance improvement activities. Continuously seeks ways to improve processes and meet customer satisfaction with patients and physicians. In addition, the Clinical Nurse Manager assumes the administrative responsibilities of the department in the absence of the Department Director. The operating room Clinical Nurse Manager provides services to the following population: infant (31 days to 12 months), child (1 year to 12 years), adolescents (13 years to 17 years), adult (ages 18 to 64 years), and older adults (ages 65 years and above).
Training and Experience:
- Current Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Five years knowledge and experience in perioperative nursing, including both the tech and circulating roles.
- Previous operating room Charge Nurse and/or Manager experience.
- BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification
- CNOR Certified
- BSN or related degree
