The NICU CNS is responsible for clinical staff development including skills, and bedside care. S/he will work with the Manager and Director to revise policies with respect to current and best practice. The CNS will develop unit based skills fairs and maintain the records for the staff with regard to competencies for the NICU, cross training to the PICU and Peds. The CNS will organize monthly M & M conferences and lead the education on the unit. S/he will participate in daily rounds and discharge planning and be a true team leader . The CNS must have clinical expertise in a level 3-4 NICU and be prepared to teach and mentor at the bedside. S/he will also be a part of the Professional Practice and Development group for the hospital.

Knowledge necessary to obtain R.N. license in the state of California and current California RN license M.S.N with Clinical Nurse Specialist focus Current CNS certification from the BRN Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NRP
