Valley Hospital Medical Center

Located in the heart of Las Vegas, Valley Hospital Medical Center is an acute care and teaching hospital that has provided high quality healthcare to residents of Southern Nevada since 1972. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including advanced cardiology, neurology, surgery and more.

Job Description:
Provides direction of the activity therapy programs and staff. Oversees general recreation activities. Maintains participation in the multidisciplinary team. Supervises and/or administers all activity therapy programming, from assessment, treatment-planning, implementation, evaluation, to discharge planning.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

 

Education:
Degree from an accredited university in Recreation Therapy or related field. Must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with the NCTRC or equivalent.

Experience:       
Minimum 1 year experience in psychiatric setting.

Technical Skills:
Computer proficiency to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database.

Other:
Ability to administer Activity Therapy assessment and interpret to write ITP’s. Knowledge of

treatment programs, leisure education, social skill development, arts, and sports needed.  Ability to modify activity according to patient participation and/or disability. Knowledge and experience with behavior management procedures.

 

License/Certification:
License and/or certification in area of clinical discipline required. Current BLS
